DEATH: See separate copy of death notice in local newspaper, the "G alloway Advertiser & Wigtonshire Free Press".
In the 1871 Census, Elizabeth was recorded as being a "Farm Worker". A t this time she was also looking after 7 children aged from 1 to 13 year s.
Elizabeth died at the young age of 40 years after a 5 week bout of Pneum onia. The death register records that she died at 2 am on the 2nd Jun e 1878. However, in the "Wigtonshire Free Press" newspaper dated 13 Jun e, a death notice states that she died on the 3rd June. I have opted fo r the date of 3rd June. The death was registered at Garliestown on the 3 rd June.
It is interesting to note that the death record states that she had "n o regular medical attention" and that no doctor certified as to cause o f death.

Note:The I.G.I. Index shows Elizabeth as having had two children befor e her marriage to John McBryde. The father of the two children is not s hown in the Index. It is assumed that John McBryde is the biological fa ther of the two children.
