Kate married Alexander BAASE in Ipswich, Qld. at the home of Willia m PRATT, aka Jackson, who had married her older sister, Anna Elizabeth , three years earlier. It was Alexander's second marriage.
Alexander had a house in Lodge Street, Toowong, Brisbane, however Kate a nd he moved into the Queensland Marine Department's married quarters a t Fisherman Islands as Alexander at this time was working as an Assistan t Light Keeper at Pile Light, Moreton Bay. In 1905, Alex, Kate and their four children, Frederick (Fred), Gertrud e (Gertie), Dorothy (Dot) and Emily (Milly) transferred to Sandy Cape Li ghthouse on Fraser Island where Alex was Second Assistant Lightkeeper.
In December 1909 the family moved to Goode Island (five miles from Thurs day Island). Alex was Lightkeeper and Signalman on Goode Island.
In 1912, Alex died unexpectedly from heart disease, and Kate returned t o Brisbane and lived in the Lodge Street house. The children attended the Toowong State School. To make ends meet, Kat e became a cleaner at a local solicitor's chamber and completed other do mestic tasks locally until such times as her children left school and we re able to contribute to the houshold income.
Kate remained at Lodge Street until December 1933 when she moved firstl y to Gertrude's home in Elizabeth Street, Toowong, then to Emily's hom e in Jolimont Street, Sherwood where she died in 1956.
