Harold's grandmother, Mrs C.F. Schulte acted as midwife at his birt h.

Harold's trade was "House Painter & Decorator". He served a number of y ears as a Salvation Army Officer in NSW and Queensland. He also went in to a finance business in Maryborough with a partner, which turned out t o be a disaster when the partner departed with all the money. Later, i n Brisbane, he tried his hand as a salesman, selling Insurance etc. befo re he joined up for military service in 1940. After the WW2, he got a j ob with Queensland Works Dept. as a painter and spent periods away fro m home doing jobs around Queensland.

MILITARY SERVICE: Enlisted for war service in the Citizen Military Force s, at Peel Street, South Brisbane, Qld on 6 Sep 1940. Initial posting , 8 Sep 1940, was to the Grovely camp, classified as "Painter & Decorato r". 13 Feb 1941 he was transferred to Cowan (Moreton Island). 9 Jun 1941 transferred to Gaythorne.
5 Jan 1942 transferred to Chermside.
16 Apr 1942 transferred to Warwick.
12 Jun 1942 transferred to Toowoomba.
2 Nov 1942 transferred to Ascot.
4 Dec 1942 transferred to Sellheim.
4 Mar 1943 transferred to Townsville.
22 Mar 1943 transferred to Magnetic Island.
2 Apr 1943 transferred back to Townsville.
29 Nov 1944 embarked in Brisbane on vessel, "L.M.G. GARRISON".
